Max Stein is the founder of the Sands Furniture empire. He’s a charming gentleman, loved by all. He’s tall, dignified, with a full head of silver hair and a smile for everyone!

He came from Poland as a young man and was taken in by a relative. He learned the trade of quilt and mattress making and started Sands Furniture in Brooklyn New York. At first he sold bedding, and then the company grew and grew until it became a major player in the residential and contract furniture world, thanks to the skill and commitment of his son Philip.

Married to a woman he fell in love with at first sight – Tillie Abramoff – they have been together for over fifty years and the relationship is still going strong.
