Devi

Devi (Devorah) Strauss Young is Elie’s oldest friend. They were playmates from a young age and Elie missed her desperately when her family moved from Queens to Long Island. They reconnected in college – when they were roommates for a year at Tel Aviv University, studying on the overseas program.

Devi grew up in a Jewish religious home, but she gave up on her observances during her college years. She is married to Lawrence Young, the American Ambassador to Israel. She is sophisticated, smart and stylish. She’s always busy, doesn’t waste much time on small talk, but her heart is always in the right place.
